Colitis
Your digestive system is key to your health and wellbeing.
When it’s not working well, it can leave you dealing with unpleasant symptoms and lack of energy because your body can’t easily digest what you’re eating and absorb the nutrients it needs to let you enjoy your life.
What is Colitis disease?
Colitis is a chronic digestive disease which features inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation and ulcers (sores) in your digestive tract.
The most common form of colitis is ulcerative colitis which affects the innermost lining of your large intestine (colon) and rectum. Symptoms usually develop over time.
Colitis can be debilitating and can sometimes lead to life-threatening complications. While it has no known cure, treatment can greatly reduce signs and symptoms of the disease and bring about long-term remission
Symptoms of colitis
Colitis symptoms can vary depending on the severity of the inflammation and it’s location.
Signs and symptoms may include:
- Diarrhoea
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Rectal pain
- Rectal bleeding
- Urgency to defecate
- Inability to defecate despite urgency
- Weight loss
- Fatigue
- Fever
- In children, failure to grow
Most people with ulcerative colitis have mild to moderate symptoms and they can come and go.
What causes colitis disease?
It’s not clear what causes colitis however there are some risk factors. Stress and diet were previously suspected to play a role in the cause of colitis however now it’s believed they may aggravate but don’t cause colitis.
Colitis appears to affect equal numbers of women and men. Risk factors may include:
- Age. While it can occur at any age it’s often diagnosed after age 30.
- Race or ethnicity. White people appear to suffer with colitics more than other racial groups. Ashkenazi Jews have an even higher risk of developing colitis.
- Family history. You’re at higher risk if you have a parent, sibling or child, with the disease.
Sobada and reflexology for colitis disease:
Gentle Sobada abdominal and back massage improves the blood supply to your digestive organs and helps them to easily eliminate waste products which allows your digestive system to function better.
The relaxing abdominal and back massage helps relax tension in your abdomen and return organs to their optimum position.
I incorporate hand and foot reflexology to help you truly relax and return to a state of balance. Reflexology is very effective for digestive related issues.
EFT Tapping for colitis:
In addition, I’ve successfully helped people with digestive issues using EFT Tapping. This option is especially useful if you can’t come to my office in Modi’in as EFT Tapping can be done very successfully via Zoom.
Read more about tapping here.
What can you expect following treatment?
- less abdominal pain and cramping
- less heaviness and bloating after eating
- easier bowel movements
- improved energy levels.
Emotional release
While Sobada Abdominal massage is great at creating a physical change in your belly, it’s also effective in supporting emotional change.
We hold the tension related to certain experiences and emotions in our bellies and when we give ourselves space to express our feelings (verbally or non-verbally) we allow for healing of what needs to be healed.
I believe that when you feel calmer and more relaxed your body is more likely to heal.
