Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Your digestive system is key to your health and wellbeing.
When it’s not working well, it can leave you dealing with unpleasant symptoms and lack of energy because your body can’t easily digest what you’re eating and absorb the nutrients it needs to let you enjoy your life.
What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that affects the large intestine. While Irritable bowel syndrome is not really life threatening it can have a huge impact on your quality of life. Many people with IBS also suffer from depression and anxiety.
Symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome symptoms can vary by severity and frequency.
Signs and symptoms may include:
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Diarrhoea or constipation or both
- Bloating and gassiness
What causes Irritable bowel syndrome?
Unfortunately it’s not clear exactly what causes Irritable Bowel Syndrome .
Factors that appear to play a role include:
- Muscle contractions in the intestine. Food should move through your digestive tract stimulated by uniform contractions of the muscles in the walls of the intestines. When some contractions are stronger and longer than normal it can cause gas, bloating and diarrhoea. On the other hand, weak intestinal contractions can slow down the passage of food in the intestines and lead to hard, dry stools.
- Nervous system. If your nervous system is not communicating well with your digestive system, the signals between the brain and digestive system aren’t coordinated leading to pain, discomfort, diarrhoea and/or constipation
- Infection. Irritable Bowel Syndrome can sometimes develop after a severe bout of diarrhoea caused by bacteria or a virus. IBS might also be a result of excess bacteria in the intestines (bacterial overgrowth).
- Early life stress. There seems to be a higher number of people with IBS symptoms following stressful life events especially in childhood.
Changes in gut micro-organisms. When there is an imbalance in the number and variety of micro-organisms in the gut it can cause IBS symptoms.
Sobada and reflexology for Irritable Bowel Syndrome:
Gentle Sobada abdominal and back massage improves the blood supply to your digestive organs and helps them to easily eliminate waste products which allows your digestive system to function better.
The relaxing abdominal and back massage helps relax tension in your abdomen and return organs to their optimum position.
I incorporate hand and foot reflexology to help you truly relax and return to a state of balance. Reflexology is very effective for digestive related issues.
EFT Tapping for Irritable Bowel Syndrome:
In addition, I’ve successfully helped people with digestive issues using EFT Tapping. This option is especially useful if you can’t come to my office in Modi’in as EFT Tapping can be done very successfully via Zoom.
Read more about tapping here.
What can you expect following treatment?
- less abdominal pain and cramping
- less heaviness and bloating after eating
- easier bowel movements
- improved energy levels.
Emotional release
While Sobada Abdominal massage is great at creating a physical change in your belly, it’s also effective in supporting emotional change.
We hold the tension related to certain experiences and emotions in our bellies and when we give ourselves space to express our feelings (verbally or non-verbally) we allow for healing of what needs to be healed.
I believe that when you feel calmer and more relaxed your body is more likely to heal.
